Welcome to Insureness Engineering
EngineeringEngineering insurance is arranged broadly in two areas. The first is material damage risks including business interruption and breakdown. The second is inspection.
Material Damage
(which generally means breakdown and sudden and unforeseen damage) is available for many items of contractor’s plant, lifts, lifting plant, general machinery and plant and computers.
The business interruption cover generally follows material damage cover plus accidental failure of Public Electricity, Gas and Water Supplies. Insureness can advise and assist you in arranging cover in the following areas:
• Contractors All Risks insurance covers all types of building and civil engineering construction. The Policy provides cover on an all risks basis against physical loss of or damage to insured property, provided that such loss or damage is of an unforeseen and accidental nature. The main hazards are fire and explosion, theft, collapse, earthquake, landslides, storm and flood. Additionally, a CAR Policy can cater for owned and hired in plant, employees’ tools, temporary works, site huts, and materials in transit to the site, including offsite storage.
• Contractors Plant Construction and erection works often call for the use of specialist plant and equipment. The policy provides cover within the territorial limits, including whilst on site, on an all risks basis. The main hazards are fortuitous working accidents, collision and overturning, faulty operation, fire, theft, and natural perils such as earthquake, storm and flood. Hired in plant cover can also be extended to include Negligent Breakdown & resultant loss of hire charges (to comply with Hire Contract)
• Erection All Risks insurance covers the erection of individual machines or complete installations, ranging from lifts, air conditioning equipment and the like, to for example, food processing factories.
• Machinery Movement provides cover for machinery during specified operations, covering the risks of dismantling, resiting, transit by land, sea or air, handling, erection and testing. Cover is on an all risks basis but excludes the risks of fire, lightning or explosion whilst the machinery is situated at any premises, since these are normally catered for by a property policy. The main hazards are damage during lifting, accidental damage in handling, and theft.
• Machinery Damage insurance provides protection against the dangers of explosion and collapse and breakdown of machinery. The cover is against these limited perils, as a fire policy will usually provide for the fire and wet/dry perils.
• Machinery Consequential Loss This type of protection covers the financial consequences of a machinery breakdown. The cover is limited to the actual loss of gross profit sustained due to a peril covered under the machinery damage policy, and also insures against costs incurred in reducing any claim.
• Deterioration of Refrigerated Stock is a special insurance for the protection of perishable goods stored in warehouse-type cold stores or rooms. Cover is against deterioration resulting from specified perils. Such damage occurs as a result of a rise or fall in temperatures, a change in the concentration of gases, or the action of escaping refrigerant. Additionally, failure of the public power supply is covered.
• Computer All Risks insurance offers protection for computer systems. Cover provided includes material damage to the computer hardware itself, replacement of data media and reconstruction of data, following material damage to or misuse or contamination of the computer system and additional costs for the continuation of computer operations following material damage to the computer system, using other installations, including rental, overtime and data media. The main hazards are fire, water damage, theft and faulty or incorrect operation.
